Shott Capital Management’s Private Equity Group (“SCM Private Equity”) structures
multiple manager, discretionary separate accounts designed to achieve
individual clients’ private equity investment objectives. SCM Private Equity currently
manages portfolios with aggregate committed capital in excess of $2.7 billion (as of 09/30/2011)
on behalf of a select group of institutional
clients.
Manager selection skill, a disciplined investment decision process, deep due
diligence, and active involvement with managers comprise the core of SCM
Private Equity’s investment approach.
In selecting managers, SCM Private Equity builds on multiple years of fund
investing experience and proactively draws upon an extensive network of
relationships that has been in development since the early 1990s. Investment opportunities are
sourced, and diligence efforts are augmented, through a wide network of
professionals in and around the private equity industry: limited partners,
general partners, law firms, as well as commercial and investment
banks. Investment decisions are ultimately made after analyzing various factors relating to GP
strategy, performance, organization, and after numerous reference
checks.
Post investment, SCM Private Equity remains actively involved with its fund
managers. With a depth of industry knowledge, SCM Private Equity Principals are frequently often
called upon for insight and advice and, in many cases, invited to serve on
fund advisory boards.
Senior private equity professionals at SCM possess over 49 years of collective experience in private
equity, fund selection, and management. Cumulatively, the senior principals have been responsible for making
over $3.1 billion in fund commitments to nearly 200 funds in the Venture
Capital, Buyout, International Private Equity and Secondary areas (as of
09/30/2011).
